November Newsletter

Picture Make-up Day
Picture make-up day is scheduled for November 2nd. Please remember to send your child’s picture packet with them that day if you want retakes.

Help Keep Art City Students Healthy
Please help us to minimize the spread of germs at our school!
DO NOT send students to school unless they have been fever free for 24 hours.
DO NOT send students to school if they have an appointment the same day to be diagnosed for an illness.

Excuse Your Children
Please remember to call the office in the morning if your child will be absent. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Pick-up and Drop-off
Please remember that the church parking lot adjacent to the school is available for the use of parents for picking up and dropping off. For the safety and ease of students and parents we strongly urge you to make use of this parking lot when you pick-up or drop-off your children. You can park in the parking lot and wait for your child or walk the short distance to the school. Thank you for helping us to keep all of our students safe.

Fridays
Fridays are the day to show your school spirit by wearing your school t-shirt or sweatshirt or wearing the school colors (blue and yellow).

School t-shirts
If you ordered a t-shirt/sweatshirt/or cinch bag these items were delivered to students at the beginning of October. Please contact Jami Welch if your student didn’t receive their order.

November 2011 Challenge
Art City Elementary is having a Fruits and Veggies challenge for all of our students for the month of November. The Challenge is to eat at least a total of 5 fruits and/or vegetables most days of the week for a total of 20 days in the month.
Each student will receive something when they turn in their completed calendars. We will also have a drawing from each grade level participants for a boy and a girl to win some sports equipment.
Thanks so much for your help and support! We want Art City students to be active and healthy!

5th and 6th Grade Passports
The Ski Utah 5th and 6th grade Passports are the best way to experience The Greatest Snow on Earth. The 5th grade Passport allows you to ski or snowboard three days free at each of Utah’s 14 participating resorts. The 6th grade Passport allows you to ski or snowboard one day free at each of Utah’s 14 participating resorts. The Passport also includes special deals on equipment rentals, lessons, and other activities. For more information, go to SkiUtah.com or call 801-534-1779.

Christmas Tree Wish List
Believe it or not, next month is Christmas! If you are thinking of buying your child’s teacher a gift for Christmas, we wanted to make you aware that in December we will be posting Christmas trees by each teacher’s door. Each tree has ornaments on it that list some of the things teachers might need in their classroom. This is a great resource for teacher gift giving ideas. Please remember that giving a gift to a teacher is optional.

PTA Meeting
The PTA meeting for November is on Tuesday, November 1st at 10:00 a.m. everyone is invited to attend.
Thank You
Wow! It has been a busy few months and the PTA Board would like to thank the following individuals and committees for exceptional work and many hours of service.
Thank you Natalie Jones, Carrie Graves and Ms. Parker for the excellent job on Red Ribbon Week. It was a lot of fun and the students enjoyed the assembly and the fun daily activities.
We like to thank Tana Rosenberg and her committee for making the school picture day run smoothly.
Big thanks to Jennifer Follette, Deanna Lindsey, Julie Wilson, and Kim Droubay and all of the book fair volunteers for making the book fair fun and successful.
Thank you also to Kim Droubay for heading the SEP dinner in October and all those who volunteered to provide dinner to our wonderful teachers!
Thank you to Annette Sorensen, Stacie Hatch and committee for your continuing efforts with Reflections.
Thanks to Laurie Edwards and her committee for their time in making the Halloween parade fun for everyone!
Thank you Amber Park and Kami Hall and the fundraising committee! The walk-a-thon was a huge success and their many, many hours of service paid off for our school.

radKIDS
radKIDS started October 3rd and is going really well. If you have a 2nd or a 5th-grade student I would like to invite you to come and sit in on their classes (5th grade meets at 10:30 and 2nd grade meets at 1:25). We like it when parents come because the students always want to work a little harder when Mom or Dad is there watching, plus you can be their "Safe Place" or "Trusted Adult" as we do our drills. We hope to see you soon.
-Mrs. Anderton and Mrs. Murray

Veteran’s Assembly
On November 11th is our Veteran’s Assembly. If your student would like to invite a family member that is currently serving or has served in our United States Military, please contact the school to RSVP. We will be honoring them at the assembly.

Walk-a-thon facts
Did you know that our students completed 13,022 laps (equals 1,628 miles) on the day of the walk-a-thon? They completed enough miles to run/walk to Disneyland and back and then almost halfway back to Disneyland. Great job Art City students!
