December Newsletter

Winter Attire
Winter is now upon us. Please remember to have your children wear clothing that is appropriate for the weather. They will be going outside for recess on most days and will need winter attire (coats, hats, boots, etc.) Please make sure to put names on all items that come to school.

Lost and Found
Our lost and found is overflowing again! If your child has lost items at school, please take a moment to check the lost and found ASAP! All unclaimed items will be donated to local charities over the Christmas break.

Open Enrollment
All applications with the $5.00 fee need to be turned into the District Office or into the main office. If you applied and were accepted for open enrollment last year, you DO NOT need to reapply. The Open Enrollment window for the 2011-2012 year begins December 1, 2010 and closes February 18, 2010. You can obtain an application at the District Office or online at www.nebo.edu/information/open_enrollment. All applications with the $5.00 fee need to be turned into the District Office or into the main office. If you applied and were accepted for open enrollment last year, you DO NOT need to reapply.

Christmas Holiday
There will be no school beginning December 22nd and will resume on January 3rd, 2011. Have a wonderful and safe holiday!

Recycling
Thank you for all of your recycling efforts. The receptacles in the parking lot are great for magazines, newspapers, cardboard, phone books, and junk mail.

Help Keep Art City Students Healthy
Please help us to minimize the spread of germs at our school!
• DO NOT send students to school unless they have been fever-free for 24 hours.
• DO NOT send students to school if they have an appointment the same day to be diagnosed for an illness.

Excuse Your Children
Please remember to call the office in the morning if your child will be absent. Thank you for your help in this matter.

5th and 6th Grade Passports
The 5th grade Passport allows you to ski or snowboard three days free at each of Utah’s 14 participating resorts. The 6th grade Passport allows you to ski or snowboard one day free at each of Utah’s 14 participating resorts. The Passport also includes special deals on equipment rentals, lessons, and other activities. For more information, go to SkiUtah.com or call 801-534-1779.

Christmas Tree Wish List
If you are thinking of buying your child’s teacher a gift for Christmas, we wanted to remind you that we will be posting Christmas trees by each teacher’s door. Each tree has ornaments on it that list some of the things teachers might need
in their classroom. This is a great resource for teacher gift-giving ideas. Please remember that giving a gift to a teacher is optional.

Volunteers
There are always opportunities to volunteer at Art City Elementary. If you are interested, please call Jen Follette at 801-489-7036.

Art City Blog
We invite you to check out the Art City Blog at artcitynews.blogspot.com. Here you will find more information about upcoming events, happenings at the school, and pictures of different activities at Art City. The Art City PTA is also on Facebook. You can find us by searching for Art City Elementary PTA

Thank You
Thanks to everyone who helped make our Veteran's Day Assembly a success. Special thanks to Sarah Ferrin for the hours that she spent putting together the wonderful slide show and to Dusty Kawai for speaking to us about his experiences.
